On Friday 16 February 2007 at 23:05 I started a trip to Abashiri at Sea of Okhotsk. First I went from Sapporo to Abashiri by train. We came to the place at 6 am. In a hotel, I had a bath and breakfast.
Next, I was going from Abashiri to Monbetsu by bus. During the travel, which took over one hour, we could admire the surrounding and cows on the snow. In Monbestu, I visited wie¿ê widokow±. Going to the tower I met seal (Photos 9-10). I took the lift to the third floor of the tower (Photo 11) and next I went down below the sealevel but the sea fauna could be seen only in aquaria (Photos 12-14) because you could see only the dark green of sea water through the tower windows.
At noon I went on board an ice-breaker. A cruise around Sea of Okhotsk took about one hour. Sometimes the ice was so thick and dense that the ice-breaker moved very slowly. Our cruise companions were screaming seagulls.
After the cruise and lunch I looked at other seal (Photos 31-32), and later I went to a bus station. Walking around the town I noticed (besides crows known from Sapporo) a few specimens of black kite from accipitridae family (Photos 37-38).
When I arrived at Engaru it was already dark there.
The last part of my travel from Engaru to Sapporo was covered by train. I returned home at around 11 pm so the whole trip took about 24 hours.
