On 23 August 2006, my parents came to Japan to visit me. In Sapporo, we went to Nakajima park (Photo 1) and ascend in a cable car Moiwa mountain (Photos 2-6) from where one could see Sapporo Dome sport hall (Photo 3) and the surroundings of the railway station with high buldings (Photo 4).
On Saturday 26 August, we were traveling by bus around Furano and Biei. We saw lavender fields and bought gifts smelling of lavender. The participants of that trip were (besides us) the Chinese (the tour guide - the first person from the left in Photo 17 - spoke Chinese, we could listen to recorded comments in English).
On Sunday 27 August, we met Mrs. Yuko in church and spent the afternoon with her. You can see my mother in front of a kimono department in Photo 20. You can spend all your salary for such a kimono and there are even more expensive ones.
My mother spent her birthday (29 August) in Kyoto. In the evening after the arrival we were walking along Kyoto streets: we were near the city hall (Photo 24) and the main river of Kyoto i.e. Kamo (Photos 31-32) and we visited a small shrine also (Photos 33-37).
We were staying in the hotel of Japanese airlines (ANA Hotel Kyoto, Photos 39-41) in front of Nijo Castle which we did not visit unfortunately because it was closed on Tuesday. The hotel service, interior (Photo 39) as well as immediate surroundings (Photos 40-41) were very impressive.
We visited Kiyomizu temple the next day.
After returning to Kyoto Station we took the lift to the tower which stand in front of the railway station (Photo 52). Before the departure to Osaka Kansai airport we admired the station construction.
On Wednesday August 30, we had a Polish lunch with the record number of eaters. There were among others historians of the Institute of National Remembrance (two men sitting on the left) who came to Japan with lectures.
My parents finished their Japanese journey in Kawasaki where we visited Polish priest Edward Brzostowski who is living at Asada Catholic Church. One can see some icons (e.g. Trinity by Rublev in Photo 61) in the church. In Photo 62, there is an excerpt of the Gospel according to Saint John (John 3, 16) in Japanese.
In the early morning of Monday 4 September 2006, we set off from Kawasaki to Tokio Narita airport from where my parents left Japan for Poland.
